North Coast SunSmart Kids Triathlon 2015

Sunsmart Kids Triathlon Sponsors

North Coast Triathlon Club is excited to partner with Healthway and Triathlon WA to host the SunSmart Kids Triathlon on Sunday the 22nd November 2015, at Craigie Leisure Centre. Craigie Leisure Centre is located on Whitfords Avenue, Craigie.

This event is open to all children aged 7 – 15 years old (as of 31st December 2015) who enjoy swimming, cycling and / or running and would love an opportunity to try a triathlon either by themselves or with friends in a team. The swim leg is in the pool and the bike and run is at the back of the leisure centre on a restricted service road.

For Juniors already registered with TWA, the event is free to enter, you just need to pay $4.00 for the pool entry into Craigie. For all other kids who are coming down to have a go, it costs just $20.00 to cover a one day race license and includes pool entry fee. Everyone that enters receives a swim cap at registration and a medal on completion.

To make sure registration is easy and quick on the day and that we have enough medals and caps for everybody, please submit your entry by Wednesday the 18th of November. We will take late entries, even on the day, but if you can enter beforehand it will make things run smoother.

Parents, we do need volunteers to make this event happen. We have various roles from registration to giving out finisher medals out, marshalling on course and transition. It’s really easy and fun to do, so please offer your assistance, it will be greatly appreciated.

Healthway and SunSmart

Healthway sponsorship of the North Coast SunSmart Kids Triathlon ensures that the SunSmart message is synonymous with all triathlon events – big and small – in WA.

SunSmart is an important message for triathletes of all ages who often train outdoors in sunny weather. The outdoors lifestyle that we love can bring with it some health risks. Every year, around 44 000 West Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer and around 1000 of those cancers are melanomas. Every year 130 Western Australians die from this most deadly form of skin cancer. The good news is that most skin cancers can be prevented and it is important for young people to be SunSmart at an early age as damage to the skin caused by sun exposure catches up with them later in their life.
