Juniors training course – bike, run and open water swimming

The program for current club members runs for 12 weeks for the 2017/2018 season in two 6-week blocks (please note these venues are provisional and will be confirmed prior to the sessions):

27th October – 8th December 2017 and 16th February – 23rd March 2018.

Where: Block One

27th October : Bike/run – Whitford’s Nodes

3rd November : Bike /run – Whitford’s Nodes

10th November: Swim/run – Hillary’s Marina

17th November : Bike/run  – Whitford’s Nodes

24th November: Swim/run – Hillary’s Marina

8th December: Swim/run – Windup – Hillary’s Marina

Block Two

16th February : Bike/run – Whitford’s Nodes

23rd February: Bike/run –  Whitford’s Nodes

2nd March: Swim/run – Hilary’s Marina

9th March: Bike/run – Whitford’s Nodes

When: Fridays 4:30-5:45pm
General Info: Develop Bike, Running and Transition Skills. Work on open water swim skills with play based games.
What To Bring: Bike, helmet, running shoes, water bottle, hat and sunscreen, bathers and towel on alternate weeks.
Cost: $60 per 6-week block or $100 for both 6-week blocks.

This program is for Younger Juniors (7–11s) and those Competitive Juniors (12-15s) who are beginning in the sport. It is held on Friday nights at alternate locations (see above). For Younger Juniors, a parent or friend must stay during training to assist with marshalling, taking your child to the toilet or being there if they have any scrapes or bumps. If the parent can’t stay, then please place the name of the nominated person responsible for your child on the sign in sheet at registration. We will meet at the club or on the oval 5-10 minutes early if possible to register. You will then have your number placed on your hand and given a name badge. Proceed to your coach, who will organise the groups and activities for the session. At the end of the session, at around 5.30pm, we will often hold a mini duathlon / splash and dash (Parent help will be appreciated to marshal strategic spots on the course). This is followed by spot prize draws.

Swim Training

Please note this is not included as a part of the Juniors training course. Places are limited and incur an additional cost for coaching and pool entry.

Where: Arena Joondalup, Kennedy Drive, Joondalup.
When: Monday 6:00 to 7:00 pm. 25m Leisure Pool near the learn to swim office.
General Info: Coached by Janine Kaye and run throughout the year over each school term. This session is to develop 9-12 year old Juniors swimming fitness and skills in open water and triathlon swimming technique. Free style is the main focus. Swimmers need to have good basic technique and have passed level 8 at school swimming. Numbers are limited so please register your interest directly with Janine.
What To Bring: Bathers, towel, goggles, swim cap, water bottle, fins, clothes to put on after training
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($80 for 10 sessions)
