Tour de Lancelin 2018

The Tour de Lancelin will be on Saturday 6th October this year. The event is a Fundraiser for two worthy charities, ‘Fight MND’ and ‘The Fathering Project’. This is a free event, but we encourage people to donate on the day (we recommend $10). We are organising a bus to bring people back at $15 a head (or 3 stamps of your training card) and a trailer for bikes. There is an announcement on the FaceBook page and we encourage you to respond as to whether you will be attending.

Underground Surf to Surf 2018

The inaugural Surf to Surf was held on Sunday the 26th August and included 4, 12 and 21km distances.  There was a great turnout from club members and the weather played ball!

This event allows you to forget the crowds, costs and complex pick up and transport issues associated with City to Surf. Run along the best part of the coast (SSLSC south bound) with your mates.

For full information and course maps see the Underground Surf to Surf Run page.  Details of the 2019 event will be released closer to the time.

Club Series Aquathlon 2018-19

The Club Series Aquathlon is race 8 in the Club Event Series and consists of a swim (600 m) and a run (4 km) plus transition from beach to grass area.  Registrations details will be advised closer to the time.

Aquathlons 2018-19

Online Registration is available now and through out the season so why not register now (no cost to register and no penalty if you cannot make it).

Follow this link for 2018/2019 Season Registration

The Club Aquathlon Series is a 12 race program between October and March. Races consist of a Swim (400 m to 600 m) and a run from (3.2 km to 3.4 km) plus transition from beach to grass area. The dates of each event are listed below, and the venue is the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club.

We very much encourage new members to come along, introduce yourself and get involved. The club prides itself on running the most competitive Aquathlon series in the state, at the lowest possible cost to members.

Aquathlons provide a regular event for club members to get together and compete in a friendly but competitive atmosphere. It also allows non-participating members the opportunity to cheer and support fellow club members who are competing. Club members of all ages and abilities participate and it is an excellent way for newer members to get themselves introduced to other club members. We have participants from 13 years and above take part. Prizes awarded at the end of year presentation dinner.

We use the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club courtyard area for pre-race registrations, post race announcements and presentations. A BBQ is also put on selling hot-dogs and burgers. Families are very welcome as we encourage all members to participate young and old, male and female.

Registration generally takes place from 5.45pm. Race briefings commence at 6.05pm and racing starts at 6.15pm.

The Max Greive Memorial 10km Run

2018 Race Date: Nov 09 – Follow this link for 2018 Run Registration

Max Greive was a founding member and a driving force in setting up the Club in the early 90s. He was a great character and a tough competitor – a legend in triathlon circles. Max tragically died of cancer at the age of 55 and we remember him through this memorial run.

The annual NCTC Max Greive Memorial Run has become a popular fixture on the club calendar with participation in the 10km event being one of the qualifying criteria for the CTOY Award (Club Triathlete of the Year).

Entry is by means of as many gold coins as you wish to give for both runners and walkers, with all proceeds donated to the Cancer Council of Australia. True to Max’s own competitive spirit a fierce competition usually develops for the winner’s trophy– the “BIG CHAIN RING”, for both men and women. A 5km version of the event caters for social entrants. The event is usually held in November, with the start and finish at the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club.

Winter Duathlons

The Club organises duathlons between July and September, typically every third Saturday, from Whitfords Nodes Car Park. These events usually (but not always) replace the Saturday rides on those days. The event commences with a briefing at 6:45am for a 7:00am start and includes a 2.5 km run, then 25 km to 50 km (your choice) bike followed by a 5 km run.  Distances can be varied to suit your own preference. These are not conducted as a formal race and are intended to be training sessions. Volunteers are available to help mind the bikes, with members encouraged to volunteer where they can. Details and dates are listed in the club Calendar and Facebook Page the week before each duathlon.

Tour de Lancelin

This annual ride is usually held in September or October. Between 40 and 50 riders take to the road early on a Saturday morning to ride part or all of the 130 km from Ocean Reef to Lancelin. Willow Brook is the halfway point stop where we stop for refreshments and devour the most awesome scones and then some riders load their bikes on support vehicles and drive the rest of the way, some head back home if time is limited, and others start at Willow Brook and cycle to Lancelin, but the majority cycle the whole way.

2018 date: SATURDAY 6th OCTOBER.

Women in Triathlon (WIT) training course

This 8 week course encompasses three sessions a week of skills and fitness training in all three disciplines of triathlon. The culmination of the course includes competing (for those who would like to) in an official Association short-course triathlon. The course entry fee includes membership to the West Australian Triathlon Association, membership to North Coast Tri Club and free entry to five club races. The club endeavours to hold one of these courses each season. More information can be found here.

The Presentation Dinner

All event winners and place getters of our activities over the year are recognised at this club dinner in June/July every year. Supporters and contributors to the running of our club are also recognised at this season wind-up night. We also take particular pleasure in announcing our Club Triathlete of the Year and Club Person of the Year at this function.
