North Coast Tri Club News Update

Here comes November! We have heaps of things happening. Max Greive Memorial Run is being held on the 9th November. Register here before hand to help out our volunteers on the day. Gold coin donations for the Cancer Council of Australia will be collected before the run, we encourage everyone participating and spectating to contribute to this worthy organisation.

We also have the annual Interclubs Sprint Race happening on the 25th of November n Mandurah. As always this event is a week out from Busselton, we understand athletes training for the big race would prefer to skip the Interclubs, but let’s look at it as transition practice and a chance to get together as a club. Even if you can’t race, we have volunteer spots available for BBQ chefs. We want to have a massive Club presence down there, this is a great event and lots of fun.

The 25th Anniversary Committee will be selling Raffle Tickets for a “Snorkel with the Sharks” at AQWA. Well done to all who braved the waves and finished the Aquathlon on Friday night, the chopper hovering overhead didn’t fill anyone with confidence. For some awesome photographs and video, check out the Facebook page. Thanks Tim Marsh (@focusedninjaphotography) as always and also Tom Giles (@Crank’d Media) for the video coverage.

We won!

The “Rallying of the Troops” competition for the IRONMAN TriClub Program has lead to an overwhelming victory for North Coast Tri Club. 72 of our athletes (that’s almost a quarter of our members) will be participating and now have priority bike racking at the IRONMAN event in December. Well done everyone for getting on board!

Swimming survey

A big thank you to all those who responded to our swimming survey.

We received responses from many of you – making this a valuable tool to assess our current club swim offering. The Board will discuss the results with the NCTC Swim Coaches and see if any adjustments are required based on your feedback.

Thanks again for your participation.

Volunteer Thank You

Thanks to all those who have volunteered to date at Aquathlons and for Tour de Lancelin. Another one or two people would come in handy for Max Greives, especially a turn-around marshall (2.5 km from start) and another supporter for the water stop. Please register online here or if you can’t then turn up on the day and make yourself known. We also need volunteers for upcoming BBQs for the Aquathlons, to buy/prepare the food and assist with cooking. Thanks again.

North Coast Tri Club News Update

Written by Zena Coffey on . Posted in News

Firstly! Big congratulations to Alan Hartley and Brad Kaye, both members reaching legend status on the weekend. Alan completed his second Kona World Champs Ironman race and Brad his first. Judging by all the commentary and race records broken, it must have been perfect conditions for the iconic race. A lot of North Coasters were up early Sunday morning tuning in to history being made. A good boost to the mental prep for all our members doing the Ironman in Busselton no doubt.

If you couldn’t make the Season Opener, you did miss out on some good fun. Great turn out and the take home message from Club President Milou Smeets, was to reach out and be the person who looks out for fellow members, we are inclusive, we are welcoming and we are supportive.

Members were treated to a “25 year anniversary Buff” and a big announcement. The 25 year Anniversary Committee confirmed the 19th of January as the date for a celebratory event at AQWA. To help subsidise costs for the event we raffled off a “Dive with the Sharks” pass on Sunday at the Season Opener. The lucky winner Ayesha Scott has the option of diving on the evening of our AQWA event, while the guests look on and enjoy canapés.

So many events this weekend! Aquathlons kick off on Friday evening at SSLC, the Rottnest Running Festival is on Sunday and back in Perth we have the State Duathlon Championship at a new venue the Perth Motorplex Kwinana. Click here to register.

North Coast Tri Club News Update

Written by Zena Coffey on . Posted in News

The first big season event was this weekend, the annual Tour de Lancelin. A fantastic turn out of 53 riders and an amazing entourage of support crew and volunteers. If you didn’t make it, you did miss a great day. The weather was perfect, the scones delicious, traffic good and the pub lunch worth it. The biggest achievement was a fundraising effort of $725.00 on the day. This will be donated to two worthy charities ‘The Fathering Project’ and ‘Fight MND’. Thank you for your support, consideration on the road for fellow riders and traffic. Huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this event together.

The second big event the Season Opener is this Sunday 14 October. Join us at Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club from 3-6pm. A chance to get out of the training gear and meet some of the club members. The Board will be introducing themselves and giving you a taste of what is planned for the year. This is a family friendly event with drinks and finger food available. Don’t miss out.

Big weekend for two of our athletes. Kona Ironman World Championships are taking place this Saturday (Hawaii time). We wish Alan Hartley and Brad Kaye all the best in their races and look forward to hearing all about it on their return!
