James White will be towing up the baggage trailer leaving from the start point in Ocean Reef. Any baggage to go up can go in the trailer. The trailer will return on Sunday and can take baggage, 6 bikes and 4 persons. If you want to take advantage of this service please contact Dave N on email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is a long ride on roads that can be busy You must at all times ride with caution and be very vary of traffic, especially along Indian Ocean Drive.
YOU SHOULD RIDE IN SINGLE FILE ALL TIMES. Only pass slower riders when it is safe to do so.
- PLEASE SIGN THE RIDERS REGISTER BEFORE YOU SET OFF. DETAILS REQUIRED ARE YOUR ADDRESS, EMERGENCY CONTACTS NAME AND PHONE NUMBER. ALSO THE DISTANCE/LEG YOU ARE PLANNING TO RIDE.
- ALSO THERE WILL BE A SWEEPER VEHICLE THAT WILL STAY BEHIND THE SLOWEST RIDER FOR THE DURATION. IF AT ANY TIME YOU DO NOT WISH TO CONTINUE, DO NOT FRET – THE SWEEPER WILL ASSIST YOU.
Tour ‘de Lancelin – the cause
Club ride is to raise awareness of Breast Cancer and Prostate cancer.
Pink & Blue ribbons will be for sale before the start of the ride. at $5.00 each for adults and $2.50 for juniors capped at $15.00 per family. Wear your ribbons on the ride and display them at the dinner to get your free meal.
Departure point is: 7 Baroola Place, Ocean Reef. (Rob Lees house) Time is 6.00am. First official stop will be at Willowbrook farm for coffee, tea, coke, scones and muffins. This is approx. half way.
We will be appointing task leaders to share the load of preparing the evening meal.
All food has been pre bought so we just need some hands to prepare it. A salad team to make the salads, a fruit salad team a BBQ team and a team to sell ribbons. All that weren’t in a team will make up the dishwashing detail. Anyone wanting to volunteer to make up a team please let Dave know otherwise random persons will be unilaterally nominated.
The return ride on Sunday is the same stages in reverse, but there is only 1 group and usually this is only a hand full of die-hards. Start time 7.00am.
Please note – this weekend isn’t just about the adults we want you and the family – it’s a great outing for them as well

The Back to Basics the course has filled, but due to the overwhelming response I am currently trying to find more lane space at other pools so I can run another course. For those that emailed me but didn’t get a space , you will go onto my waiting list and I will contact you if I manage to secure another booking. Sorry for any disappointment. Clare Whitehead.
If you are a self-taught swimmer, have watched other swimmers and tried to copy them, or a mate has given you a few tips to help you improve your freestyle but ended up more confused than ever, then this might be the course for you.
The Back to Basics course is a 10 week course aimed to first slow you down so you can check and correct the fundamental skills of your freestyle stroke.
Prepare for the weekend of the year. The Lancelin countdown is on, so it’s time to start planning the logistics. Below you will find the journey chart so that if you are planning to share the ride you can set up your stage changeovers. it is also a guide to accumulative distances by checkpoint.
We depart at 6.00am from 7 Baroola Place, Ocean Reef. (Rob & Kim Lees home). For normal people this is very early in the morning, so please be considerate of the immediate neighborhood by keeping the noise level down.
Please buddy up into groups to share the luggage load – there are usually at least
The Club AGM is this Sunday at the Sorrento Surf Club 3pm to 4pm.
Please show your support and embrace our Club spirit by attending for that 1 short hour. By doing so you will be showing your appreciation for the old committee and all the work they did. Just as importantly please be there to welcome in the new committee – your presence will mean so much because it will show you care.
The bar will be open for drinks after the meeting so for those that are able to, its a chance for a little socialising.
