Aquathlons 2018/2019

The first Aquathlon on the series kicked off our club season on Friday night and round 2 is this week, 26th October!

There will be an events page set-up through The Club’s FaceBook page with all relevant information, plus the dates and more information are on the website also. This year we would like to encourage you to register your details (not payment) on webscorer, as this will put you in our system for timekeeping purposes and make the registration on the day easier for volunteers. The cost for participating is $10 senior, $5 Junior or 2/1 Training Card stamps and $15 for non-club members. A season pass of $70 is also available. (Please note all participants need to be members of Triathlon Australia). Registration will be from 5.30pm with race starting at 6pm. Burgers and drinks are available for purchase after the event. Aquathlons are a great way to end the working week, a chance to unwind, get a bit of sneaky training in and enjoy the sunset. We encourage all our members to take part and enjoy the fun! 44037229_1968512643207347_3523718794591600640_o

THURSDAY 25th October

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 5:45am– 7:00am
The Hepburn Loops ride is based on laps around a 10km circuit in Hillarys. We start at Whitfords Shops (outside Celebrations) and take Whitfords Ave to Hepburn Ave, then back to Whitfords along Marmion Ave – we turn left into Banks Ave down to the roundabout and head past Bunnings and back onto Whitfords Ave – thus completing 1 loop/circuit. We ride as a bunch and try to do 3-4 loops (riders can peel off at any time as suit their needs). Ideally, the first loop is done at any easy pace and then we build the pace for each lap – the aim is to keep the pace consistent throughout the whole lap – no surging, no sprint efforts. The final lap is your fastest effort but steady the whole way. Great training for everyone.
