Big apologies to Alex Black who was left off the list of Certificate of Appreciations published last week. Alex has been an integral part of the junior training program throughout the season. Thank you Alex.

MONDAY 3rd July

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: HBF Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).

RIDE: INDOOR COACHED SPIN

Venue: Coles Underground Carpark No. 9,  Whitfords Shopping Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm (approx.)
Cost: $5.  Please use your training  card training card.
Details: Come along for a super Spin session in the dry undercover carpark.  These sessions are coached and will vary each week. So pack your bike, wind trainer, towel, water bottle and a change of clothes into the car.  Please arrive a bit earlier so that you can setup and be ready to rock at 6.30pm.   See Website for more information.


TUESDAY 4th July

RIDE: ILUKA LOOP

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:15am
Details: This is the popular Tuesday morning “intervals” ride session. This is a high-intensity training session with a mix of fast, flat sections plus 3-7 hills and dedicated recovery points. Group 1 uses active recovery (constant rolling) at regrouping points and Groups 2 & 3 have passive recovery stops. The ride departs at 6AM from Celebrations Bottle-shop at Whitfords Shopping Centre. RUN: TEMPO TRAINING (new Session)

Venue: Whitfords Nodes (meet near toilet block)
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $5 or less with a training card.

WEDNESDAY 5th July

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.


THURSDAY 6th July

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am– 7:15am
Details:   This ride is scheduled every fortnight and is a short hills training session on local roads. The route offers some flexibility on distance and pace depending on how you feel on the day as the hill repeat area is a 2 km loop with either 3, 2 or 1 times up the Hocking Pde Hill.  For more information visit the Website.

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $5 or less with a training card.

FRIDAY 7th July

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card.
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.


SATURDAY 8th July

RIDE:  GUILDFORD HILLS

Venue: Meet at Guildford Railway Station
Time: 6:30am –  10:00am
Details:  The Guildford Hills rides will be the medium (78km) ride departing from Guildford railway station (south eastern car park).  See Website for more information.

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club (Northside)
Time: 6:30am – 8:30am
Details: Kevin is back from the Marathon and back on the bike.  This ride is a semi-coached social ride for adults and older juniors just starting up in cycling or returning to cycling after a lay-off. Distance covered will usually be around 30km with average speeds around 25km/hr. Coaching on cycling technique and copious amounts of encouragement will be provided during this ride.  No one gets left behind!!

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled usually between 45km to 60km with an average speed less than 26km/hour.  Moya is not available for this ride.  Please feel free to join Kevin’s ride.


 SUNDAY 9th July

RIDE: WINTER SUNDAY SESSION

Venue: Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 8:00am
Details:  This ride can be your recovery ride, social ride, wet weather alternative if you miss your Saturday ride, or just your regular weekend ride for those that choose to do Park Run on Saturdays. This ride will be available to NCTC members most Sundays until Open Water swimming restarts in late Spring/early Summer.


Why can’t your nose be 12 inches long? Because then it would be a foot!
