Club Person of the Year Nominations are now open.   It’s time to put in a nomination or two or more for people you believe should be recognised for their contribution to the club.  Please get your nomination in, on or before Sunday 4th June 2017 via email to Emma Bott at elouise@iinet.net.au – please put in the Subject: Club Person of the Year Nomination 2017 and in the details we need the person you are nominating and a brief sentence about what the person did or does for the club that is worthy of the nomination.

We are looking forward to catching up with you all at the function. This  year is a much more casual affair, on Sat 24th June at The Carine, significantly cheaper, kid friendly and starting at 3PM. Make sure if you have not already, register your attendance now through REGISTER NOW.

Kevin is recovered and back on his bike this week to take the Saturday Novice ride. This ride conducted by Coach Kevin is suitable for the older Juniors and any adults wishing to build on their cycling skills and confidence. Departing from SSLSC. Please be there at 6.15am for a 6.30am start. Don’t forget to wear your ID wristband and bring your lights. Ride caters for all levels and speeds.

MONDAY 29th May

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: HBF Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).

TUESDAY 30th May

RIDE: ILUKA LOOP

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:15am
Details:  Road works are on route, take care. See ride details on the Website.


WEDNESDAY 31st May

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.


THURSDAY 1st June

RIDE: HEPBURN LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am– 7:15am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $5 or less with a training card.
Details: Mike Bosch coaches this session and is suitable for all levels. For details see the Run Training section.


FRIDAY 2nd June

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card.
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.


SATURDAY 3rd June

RIDE: POWER STATION TT

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am –  9.30am
Details:  The Power Station Time Trial ride is a single distance ride of 80km from Sorrento SLSC to the Gnangara Power Station and back. The time trial section is an out and back course of 15kms each way on a road with almost no vehicles and is a good opportunity to get some time on your aero bars.  See WEBSITE for more information.

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE  (Kevin is back!!!)

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club (Northside)
Time: 6:30am – 8:30am
Details: This ride is a semi-coached social ride for adults and older juniors just starting up in cycling or returning to cycling after a lay-off. Distance covered will usually be around 30km with average speeds around 25km/hr. Coaching on cycling technique and copious amounts of encouragement will be provided during this ride.  No one gets left behind!!!

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled usually between 45km to 60km with an average speed less than 26km/hour.


SUNDAY 4th June

SWIMMING: no group swim scheduled… it’s just too cold.

ANNUAL AWARDS PRESENTATION

Venue: The Carine (493 Beach Road, Duncraig)
Date: 24h June 2017
Time: from 3pm.
Cost: $20 for adults (18+), 6-17 year olds $10 and 5 and under free.
Details: This year is a more casual affair with light refreshments being provided throughout the afternoon till about 5.30pm when formalities should conclude.  You are then welcome to stay on for dinner or drinks at the Carine (at own expense).  Bookings for the afternoon are through Register Now, just follow this LINK.
