Well done to all the North Coasters who got in the water to tackle the extremely challenging conditions at the 22nd Busselton Jetty Swim on Sunday.

Congratulations to Rahul who picked up his first ever national medal, a silver in the 16-19 Year old category at the Australian Age Group Aquathlon Championships at Gunnamatta Bay in Cronulla on Saturday.  A full race report will follow shortly.

Nicki Hill, one of the clubs sponsors, will be providing a “Tri Specific” pilates and foam roller session this Saturday at 3pm.  Perfect after the Saturday morning ride and great to loosen up before racing on Sunday at Rockingham.  Nicki is a highly experienced fitness instructor with many years experience and specialises in pilates.  See below for more details.

Junior block training commences on Friday, 17th February at Duncraig High School.  This program is for Younger Juniors (7–11s) and those Competitive Juniors (12-15s) who are beginning in the sport.  To participate you must be a TWA and Junior Club member.  See our How to Join page for more information.  If you are already a member, you can go straight to the block registration, HERE.  For more information on junior training, see our WEBSITE.


MONDAY 13th February

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: HBF Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive
Time:6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).

CYCLING: SPIN/ERGO

Venue: Coles Underground Carpark No. 9, Whitfords Shopping Centre, entry off Banks Ave.
Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm (approx.)
Cost: $5 per session CASH ONLY
Details: Brad Hosking ergo session starts promptly at 6:30pm so arrive early for set up.  BYO windtrainer, water and towel.

TUESDAY 14th February

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Time: 5:45am – 7:00am

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys.
Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Cost: $5.  Please purchase training card to minimise cash handling.

WEDNESDAY 15th February

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE (new 7.30pm session-outdoor pool only)

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm & 7:30pm – 8:30pm (new session-outdoor pool)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.


THURSDAY 16th February

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 5:45am – 7:00am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys
Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm

FRIDAY 17th February

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card.
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

AQUATHLON: NCTC SERIES #9

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Registration: 5:45pm
Briefing: 6:05pm
Start: 6:15pm
Cost: $10 Cash or training card for single race entry.
Notes: All Members are encouraged to attend. Come to check it, come to get wet, or just come to cheer then stay for presentations and spot prizes.  See Website.

This event series is sponsored by BikeForce Joondalup (BFJ). We are very thankful for their help as they have provided vouchers as spot prizes and will be providing the major prize. To be in the draw to win the major prize you must finish at least 6 of the 12 races in the series. The winner will be by random draw from valid entrants to be drawn at the club’s annual presentation night. The club also recognises performance in this event with both an Adult and a Junior point score awards.

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE  (No rides until further notice)

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:00am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled usually between 45km to 60km with an average speed less than 26km/hour.

PILATES: TRIATHLON SPECIFIC PILATES

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 3:00pm – 4:30pm
Cost: $10 or  training card.
Details: Nicki is a highly experienced fitness instructor with many years experience and who now specialises in Pilates.  Pilates is a fantastic way to strengthen our bodies our core in particular.  A strong core and body will give you more power in all three disciplines as well as keeping injuries at bay.    Please bring water bottle and towel. Also bring your mat and roller if you have them.


 

SUNDAY 19th February

SWIMMING: OPEN WATER

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Time: 8am
Details: This is a non-coached open water swim for anyone interested to swim as a mob from the beach. Distances depend on the day and what people feel like doing. Meet at the top of the steps at the wall above the beach.
