Weekly Update

What a beautiful weekend.  Looks like summer might be just around the corner.  The outside temperature was warm but the ocean temperature seemed rather chilly this morning.  Thank goodness I still fitted into my wetsuit!!

Congratulations to Fiona Longden winning her age group (I won’t say which) at the Rotto Marathon and 5th lady overall.  Well done to everyone that competed.

Well done also go to the Cape to Capers.  After 4 days of cycling, hope you guys aren’t too sore.

Our 2nd Aquathlon is on this Friday.  The turn out for our first one was pretty awesome, let’s hope that the next one is just as big.  And Emma promises to have more burgers.

NCTC is holding a Run Techniques course on 6th November and a follow up session on 20th November. MONDAY 24th October

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: HBF Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive
Time:6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).

CYCLING: SPIN/ERGO

Venue: Coles Underground Carpark No. 9, Whitfords Shopping Centre, entry off Banks Ave.
Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm (approx.)
Cost: $5 per session CASH ONLY
Details: Brad Hosking ergo session starts promptly at 6:30pm so arrive early for set up.  BYO windtrainer, water and towel.

TUESDAY 25th October

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:15am

RUN: TEMPO TRAINING

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys. Details
Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Cost: $5.  Please purchase training card to minimise cash handling.
Details:  Tempo run session.


WEDNESDAY 26th October

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.


THURSDAY 27th October

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:00am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Flinders Reserve Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys. Details
Time: 6:15pm – 7:15pm

FRIDAY 28th October

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

EVENT: AQUATHON RACE #2

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Registration: 5:45pm
Briefing: 6:05pm
Start: 6:15pm
Cost: $10 Cash or training card for single race entry or save with a series entry.
Notes: All Members are encouraged to attend. Come to check it, come to get wet, or just come to cheer then stay for presentations, spot prizes, sausage sizzle and drinks.

This event series is sponsored by BikeForce Joondalup (BFJ). We are very thankful for their help as they have provided vouchers as spot prizes and will be providing the major prize. To be in the draw to win the major prize you must finish at least 6 of the 12 races in the series. The winner will be by random draw from valid entrants to be drawn at the club’s annual dinner. The club also recognises performance in this event with both an Adult and a Junior pointscore awards.

SATURDAY 29th October

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am – 8:00am
Details: Kevin is your ride leader and is there for the older juniors and novice adults. Distance travelled is usually about 30kms.  See website for more details.

RIDE: POWER STATION TT

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Power Station Time Trial ride is a single distance ride of 80km from Sorrento SLSC to the Gnangara Power Station and back.  Stuart will be unable to lead the group rides for leading up to Busselton.  So if someone else could, that would be great.  See Website for more information.

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled usually between 45km to 60km with an average speed less than 26km/hour.


SUNDAY 30th October

SWIMMING: OPEN WATER

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Time: 8am
Details: This is a non-coached open water swim for anyone interested to swim as a mob from the beach. Distances depend on the day and what people feel like doing. Meet at the top of the steps at the wall above the beach.
