Weekly Update

The 1st NCTC Aquathlon for the season is on this Friday, registration will take place from 5.45pm with race briefings commencing at 6.05pm and racing starts at 6.15pm.  Food and drinks will be available, so bring your family for a fun night.

Keep an eye out for your club Welcome Letter which should be arriving in the mail soon.  It includes discount vouchers that can be used throughout the year and one for the Aquathlon.  If you have never done an Aquathlon before you can try it for FREE (just use your voucher) or save with a series entry.

Bike Maintenance Workshop is this Sunday at Sorrento Surf Club at 3pm.

Scheduled maintenance at Craigie should now be complete, so swim training on Wednesday will be back to the normal indoor and outdoor sessions.

Well done to the WIT ladies and coaches who braved the weather yet again to complete the 2nd week of cycle training.  Let’s hope that next week is a bit dryer.  Thanks Kelli for the photo.

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD   NO SQUAD, Back next week

CYCLING: SPIN/ERGO

Venue: Coles Underground Carpark No. 9, Whitfords Shopping Centre, entry off Banks Ave.
Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm (approx.)
Cost: $5 per session CASH ONLY
Details: Brad Hosking ergo session starts promptly at 6:30pm so arrive early for set up.  BYO windtrainer, water and towel.

TUESDAY 11th October

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:15am

RUN: TEMPO TRAINING (VENUE CHANGE)

Venue: Flinders Reserve, Broadbeach Boulevard, Hillarys. Details
Time: 6:15pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $5.  Please purchase training card to minimise cash handling.
Details:  Tempo run session.


WEDNESDAY 12th October

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE (Back to normal)

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.


THURSDAY 13th October

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:00am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING (VENUE CHANGE)

FRIDAY 14th October

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

EVENT: AQUATHON RACE #1

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Registration: 5:45pm
Briefing: 6:05pm
Start: 6:15pm
Cost: $10 Cash or training card for single race entry or save with a series entry.
Notes: All Members are encouraged to attend. Come to check it, come to get wet, or just come to cheer then stay for presentations, spot prizes, sausage sizzle and drinks.

This event series is sponsored by BikeForce Joondalup (BFJ). We are very thankful for their help as they have provided vouchers as spot prizes and will be providing the major prize. To be in the draw to win the major prize you must finish at least 6 of the 12 races in the series. The winner will be by random draw from valid entrants to be drawn at the club’s annual dinner. The club also recognises performance in this event with both an Adult and a Junior pointscore awards.

SATURDAY 15th October

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am – 8:00am
Details: Kevin is your ride leader and is there for the older juniors and novice adults. Distance travelled is usually about 30kms.  See website for more details.

RIDE – SWAN VALLEY CIRCUIT

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: .  On this ride we generally offer two different rides that follow the same route for the initial 25km. We make the first 25km a group ride and then break into two groups  so that there is a group doing the shorter Whiteman Park ride and another group doing the longer Swan Valley Circuit.  See Website for more details

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled usually between 45km to 60km with an average speed less than 26km/hour.


SUNDAY 16th October

SWIMMING: OPEN WATER

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Time: 8am
Details: This is a non-coached open water swim for anyone interested to swim as a mob from the beach. Distances depend on the day and what people feel like doing. Meet at the top of the steps at the wall above the beach.

Bike Maintenance Workshop

Venue: Sorrento Surf Club BBQ Area
Time: 3pm – 5pm
Details: Bring along your bike to get some hands on experience on some basic bike maintenance.  See Website for more information.
