And you thought winter was the quiet time?  There is so much happening in and around the club at the moment, the newsletter is huge!!!!

Triathlon Western Australia Awards

Well done to all our athletes celebrating their outstanding achievements at the TWA Awards breakfast yesterday.  Some of our very own North Coasters receiving top honours:

  • Jessica Claxton – TEP (Triathlon Excellence Program) Athlete of the Year
  • Sally Pilbeam – Individual Performance of the Year – Female
  • Dale & Loretta Wesley – Chris Hewitt Memorial Award

And to all the TWA triathletes of the year, CONGRATULATIONS.

8 Week City to Surf Program

We are excited to launch a new City to Surf 2016 run program.  You will receive expert coaching over the 8 weeks of the program. Pippa and Janine are our run coaches and they will work with you to achieve your goals, whether it is your first City to Surf or you want to set a new PB.  In addition to the coaching sessions you will receive a personalised program each week.  Programs will commence on Tuesday 5th July.
Details of how to register will be available this week so stay tuned as places will be filling up fast!  And don’t forget the 25% discount on the C2S entry fee. 

Bikeforce Joondalup Ladies Only Course

To register for the Bikeforce Joondalup Ladies Only course simply email Candy at bikeforcejoondalup@gmail.com with the following info: name, mobile number, email address, type of bike (racing bike, hybrid, mountain bike) and level of fitness on the bike.   The course will be run from September.

End of Season Party – 23rd July

If you haven’t got your tickets to the Party of the year, you’re not too late.  We have had an amazing year, with lots of fantastic achievements by many of our athletes.  Come along and let’s all celebrate.  If you have any special dietary requirements, be sure to contact Kelli O’Neill at kjoneill@iinet.net.au. First Aid Course

The Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club is now taking expressions of interest for the following courses:

PROVIDE FIRST AID (accredited course HLTAID003).  Minimum age is 15 yrs, no other pre-requisites required

Dates available: 25th June and 23rd July
Time: 8am to 4pm
Cost: $90 (NCTC member price)

PROVIDE CPR (accredited course HLTAID001).  Minimum age 13 years, no other pre-requisites required.

Dates available: 25th June and 23rd July
Time: 8am to 11am
Cost: $56 (NCTC member price)
To register your interest, please call Kerry at the Sorrento Club office on 9448 1431 office hours between 9:30am and 2:30pm Monday-Thursday an 10:30am-2pm Friday.

MONDAY 20th June

SWIMMING: JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive
Time:6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).

TUESDAY 21st June

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6am – 7:15am

Venue: Whitfords Nodes bike path, near the 40 Northside Drive carpark   See Map

WEDNESDAY 22nd June

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.

THURSDAY 23rd June

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART HILLS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:00am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Moolanda Park See Map
Time: 6:15pm – 7pm

FRIDAY 24th June

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

SATURDAY 25th June

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am – 8am
Details: Kevin is your ride leader and is there for the older juniors and novice adults. Distance travelled is usually about 30kms.  See website for more details.

RIDE: TWO DAMS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Deepwater Point Carpark. See Map
Time: 7am –

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 7am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. See Website.  Average speed is usually less than 26km/hour.  Moya will be away until late July, please organise yourselves on the day or use the Facebook page for updates.

FIRST AID COURSE – SLSC

Venue: Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 8am – 11am (Provide CRP) and 8am – 4pm (Provide First Aid)

SUNDAY 26th June

RIDE: WINTER SUNDAY SESSION

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 7am
Details: This ride can be your recovery ride, social ride or wet weather alternative if you miss your Saturday ride.  Just turn up and make a plan based on who’s there on the day.
