Weekly Update

I chose a great weekend to visit my parents in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.  “Cats and dogs living together” kinda weather.  The storms devastated some of the iconic beach front locations.  Collaroy Surf Club and many of the houses along the beach front were literally ripped open by the force of the sea.  The power of the ocean.

It was very sad to hear of the tragedy in Mindarie.  Sharks are in our oceans, like some cars on the road, they are unpredictable.  Our hearts go out to the families.

TUESDAY 7th June

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6am – 7:15am
Details: See ride details on the website. Due to road works on Ocean Reef Road, the ride will head all the way along Hodges Drive bypassing Venturi Drive.  Left turn onto Ocean Reef Road, the ride picks up the return journey back to Sorrento after a right turn onto Oceanside Prom.

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING  – Postponed till 21st June

WEDNESDAY 8th June

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre

Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cost: $10 or cheaper with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.

THURSDAY 9th June

RIDE: HILLARYS & SACRED HEART HILLS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6:00am – 7:00am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Moolanda Park See Map
Time: 6:15pm – 7pm
Details: Cost $5. Please get a training card to minimise cash handling. For details about this session, see the Run Training section.

FRIDAY 10th June

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE LEISURE CENTRE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

SATURDAY 11th June

RIDE – GUILDFORD HILLS MEDIUM RIDE – New start time

Venue: Meet at Guildford railway station (south eastern car park)
Time: 7am

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 6:30am – 8am
Details: Kevin is back to lead this ride for older juniors and novice adults, distance travelled is usually about 30kms. See website for more details.

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS – New start time

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 7am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. See Website.  Average speed is usually less than 26km/hour.  Moya will be away until late July, please organise yourselves on the day or use the Facebook page for updates.

SUNDAY 12th June

RIDE: Winter Sunday Session  NEW

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 7am
Details: This ride can be your recovery ride, social ride or wet weather alternative if you miss your Saturday ride.  Just turn up and make a plan based on who’s there on the day.
