Another wet Saturday!!!  Well, winter is coming!!!

Bikeforce Joondalup is holding a  FREE Beginners Cycling Course for ladies.  The course will run from mid September until mid December every Thursday evening from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, with a cuppa and a chitchat after the ride. This is a great introduction to group riding for those ladies who have finished WIT courses and want to learn more about group riding.  Simply email Candy at bikeforcejoondalup@gmail.com with the following info: name, mobile number, email address, type of bike (racing bike, hybrid, mountain bike) and level of fitness on the bike.  Places are already filling up so get a wiggle on.  Our very own Kelli O’Neill has done the course with rave reviews.  Read her story in the next newsletter.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the End of Season Party on 23rd July at Joondalup Resort.  Early bird tickets get the chance to win over night accommodation and breakfast for 2 at the resort to be used on the night or any time you choose.  So get your tickets before 20th June to be in the draw.  See Website for details or Register Now.

JUNIORS SWIM SQUAD

Venue: Arena Joondalup, Kennedya Drive.
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Details:  $10 per session paid via a swim card through register now ($90 for 10 sessions).  For more information, please contact Janine (janine@janinekaye.com.au).

TUESDAY 17th May

RIDE: ILUKA LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6am – 7:15am
Details: See ride details on the website. Due to road works on Ocean Reef Road, the ride will head all the way along Hodges Drive bypassing Venturi Drive.  Left turn onto Ocean Reef Road, the ride picks up the return journey back to Sorrento after a right turn onto Oceanside Prom.

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING  Not running during May

WEDNESDAY 18th May

SWIMMING: SQUADS AT CRAIGIE – No 7:30pm Session over winter

Venue: Craigie Leisure CentreTime: 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Cost: $10 or cheaper with a training card
Details: Indoor squad in 25m pool, outdoor squad in 50m pool.  The indoor squad is for adults and juniors (12+) who need swim fitness, stroke correction and technique development.  The outdoor session is based on building pace awareness and speed. Refer website for more information.

THURSDAY 19th May

RIDE: HEPBURN LOOPS

Venue: Meet at Celebrations Whitfords
Time: 6am – 7:15am

RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING

Venue: Moolanda Park See Map
Time: 6:15pm – 7pm

FRIDAY 20th May

SWIMMING: CRAIGIE

Venue: Craigie Leisure Centre – 50m outdoor pool
Time: 10:30am – 11:30am  (2 lanes)
Cost: $10 or less with a training card
Details: Take your pick: – short set up to 2.2km; longer set 2.7-3km. Pacing as per program with drills to develop technique.

SATURDAY 21st May

RIDE: GUILDFORD HILLS MEDIUM RIDE

Venue: Meet at Guildford railway station (south eastern car park)
Time: 6:30am
Details: The Guildford Hills rides consist of three different length rides (Short: 68km, Medium 78km & Long 94km).   See Website

RIDE: NOVICE/JUNIORS RIDE No ride 21st or 28th May

RIDE: CHOCOLATIERS (new start time)

Venue: Meet at Sorrento Surf Club
Time: 7am
Details: The Chocolatiers are an intermediate group ride. The ride is ideal as a training or social ride for all age groups and all levels of cycling ability. Distances travelled over the winter months will be shorter.  However, we will build up the distance in preparation for the annual Lancelin ride.  Average speed is usually less than 26km/hour.

SUNDAY 22nd May

OPEN WATER SWIM

Venue: Sorrento Beach
Time: 8am
Details: This is a non-coached open water swim for anyone interested to swim as a mob from the beach. Distances depend on the day and what people feel like doing. Meet at the top of the steps at the wall above the beach. See website
