Annual General Meeting 2015

The clubs AGM was held at Sorrento SLSC on Sunday 30th August 2015. I thought I would share my address and post the results from the committee elections:

Presidents Address

It is my pleasure to report that the 2014/2015 season has been a successful year for the North Coast Tri Club with membership numbers maintained, strong participation seen at club training sessions, and a sound financial position.

It has been a year of significant changes for the club including, club colours, communication tools, coaches, training sessions, and our sponsors. These changes have been very necessary to meet the needs of our members and to keep the club moving forward.

The traditional club Events have continued to be popular with our Members this year – with Aquathlons conducted in summer & Duathlons in winter. These events are organised by the committee members and other member volunteers with participants just turning up on the day for a low cost entry fee.

We have added some new training sessions to the weekly offering with a new run session on Tuesday mornings and an indoor cycling session each fortnight. These are also very low-cost but participation numbers are important as the club pays for both coaching and venue hire.

We also introduced the pre-paid Swim Card to minimise cash handling and provide more security for our coaches. Whilst there was an increase in fees to some training sessions, this was necessary to ensure the club could sustain the rising costs of venue bookings and coaching.

We updated the club logo, replaced sign-age, and created flags to have at our events, produced club trucker hats, bumper stickers and a new club kit. The new kit purchasing arrangement enabled Members to use the discount vouchers provided with their TA Membership with the convenience of home delivery. This solution removed the club’s financial burden of buying large volumes of stock, avoids size availability issues, minimises cash handling and accounting and removes the storage problem.

This year we also introduced a new communication schedule with weekly updates, (and attempt at) monthly newsletters and an open and more relaxed Facebook social system. The committee has moved to making greater use of the internet file storage with Photobucket and Dropbox. Going forward, future committee members will have ease of access to past files to improve work efficiencies.

On top of all this the vibe around the club is excellent and very encouraging and the current committee must be commended on the excellent work done throughout the year.

We have a number of committee members not standing this year and I would just like to personally thank Janine Kaye (VP) and Eddy Girvan (Treasurer) for their involvement.

Janine has been a constant source of positive energy and has been instrumental in a number of great initiatives whilst also managing the task of our member communications. She is staying on board as one of our very valuable coaches and club members.

Eddy has been a pillar of the club for many years and his constant “no job is too hard” attitude has made him a very valuable long term committee member. Eddy is staying within the club and will still be visible around events like the Aquathlons and social occasions. We will miss him at our committee meetings and wish he and Lyn all the very best for the future.

Post Election Address

Thank you all for your support by accepting me as the president again this year. I am so motivated by the excellent people that have joined the new committee and I wish to thank them all for supporting your club and stepping up to take an active role in the club’s future.

Again I wish to thank the out-going committee members for their service to the club. Your contributions have been genuinely appreciated.

Moving forward, we have a number of initiatives already on the go and with this great new team I am sure the club will only grow stronger from the great club it already is.

Our club branded training and racing garments are an important symbol of our club’s unity and I encourage you to wear club kit when training and when competing.

We will be opening the club shop again in the next week or so and you’ll notice we’ve added some additional items such as running singlets, casual t-shirts, bib & brace cycle knicks, a jacket, and of course the trisuits and cycle jerseys will be available again. More information will be forthcoming in the usual communication channels.
