WINTER IS HERE and our first of the winter duathlon series is coming up this weekend..  and don’t forget the end of season dinner is fast approaching so get your tickets now.. more info below!

Training continues as normal this week with the highlights of the weeks activities included below, but as always, check the calendar for the weekly training sessions available. 



*  CLUB RIDE:  6-7.20am, Iluka Loop

This is a very popular weekly ride that continues year-round. Ride briefing under cover at Celebrations drive-thru Bottle-shop at Whitfords Shopping Centre. If sufficient riders turn up there are three ride plans catering for all speeds of riders: Group 1 – plus 32km/hr, Group 2 – plus 30km/hr, Group 3 less 30km/hr. Lights & ID band required.  Please note – there’s a new coffee shop just near the ride start/end (outside northern entrance near Godfreys) called Orion Cafe. They welcome cyclists and are open from 7am. More info and links to maps can be found here


50m with Janine-   This session is aimed at working on your swim efficiency, pacing and fitness over the winter months! Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). We are in the indoor heated pool but you’ll need to rug up for the walk back to the car! 




Indoor pool with Pippa –   This session is technique based and perfect for CT’s and those of us looking to develop confidence and stroke.  Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). 

Outdoor pool with David M. –  I (Janine) will be away so David will be running this session for me! This session is aimed at working on your swim efficiency,  pacing and fitness over the winter months! Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). It is getting chilly outside so you are welcome to wear your wetsuit for this session (you will need to rinse it out thoroughly to avoid chlorine damage) or remember to bring lots of layers rug up for the walk back to the car! 


* SPIN SESSION: Westfield Whitfords Car Park 9, 6am

This new session is a scheduled replacement for the Joondalup Loop rides. So every second Thursday will be spin in car park 9 at Westfields Whitfords please arrive by 5:50am. Full details with a map to gain access are available on the Calendar Event page. You will need to bring a wind trainer for this session, cost $5.

The entry for the underground carpark is behind Post Office.  Sessions runs for about 1 hr and bikes and cars are secured in locked carpark so we can go into centre to have breakfast/coffee at Orion Café. They offer a $10 breakfast special – coffee plus choice of either bacon & egg on toast, or mini egg benedict.

* RUN: INTERVAL TRAINING : Moolanda Park,  6-7pm

Winter run sessions are at Moolanda Park, Moolanda Boulevard,  Kingsley. Rob Lees will be coaching the session.  With lots of running events over the winter, now is a great time to work on your running. These fun interval sessions are suitable for all levels and running experience. All welcome to come along and give it a go!  



Outdoor pool  with David M. –  this session will be a mix of drills and some endurance work. Suitable for all levels. Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). 



This is such a great activity organised by Kim Lees for club members to have a go at. It is so much fun and no experience necessary!

Midland Speed Dome  Eddie Barron Dve Midvale from 6.00pm to 8.00 pm

$ 25.00 including Bike hire and 1 coach

Bring your pedals, bike shoes, helmet and if you have clear glasses. It can get quite cold out there if you’re standing around so bring something warm to slip on

The Club duathlons mark the start of winter training with a date set for the first Saturday of the next four months.  These are in lieu of a Saturday training rides and are considered training, not a race. More info can be found here


This week the Juniors will join in with the club duathlon. 


* CLUB GUILDFORD HILLS RIDE (Medium) – Guildford Station, 6.30am

This ride is being led by Stuart King for those still needing to get some hill strength into their legs. More info and maps here


* END OF SEASON DINNER – Joondalup Resort (pool side marquee), 27th June 2015!

Don’t forget tickets are now on sale for the North Coast Triathlon Club Presentation Dinner on the 27th June, 2015 at Joondaulp Resort Poolside Marquee! We hope to see LOTS of you there celebrating the year we had together! The dinner is open to all members and their family/partners. The club is subsidising partial costs of this evening, and we are offering all tickets at $55 per person. Each ticket is for a 3 course buffet dinner valued at $75, plus a DJ will be there to get you all moving! * IM Training Squad Information Night – Brad Hosking T6D, 17th June

I’m writing to advise all North Coast prospective 2015 IMWA athletes of the preparation squad I will be running for this event. An 18 week program commencing August 3rd, it will not only provide you with the platform from which to realise and /or exceed your potential on race day, but leave you with a life changing experience born from a journey shared.

I will be running a comprehensive information night that will address any and all queries regards the squad, it’s processes, costs etc. on Wed night the 17th June at the offices of SRG Corporate U 14-16 / 127 Herdsman Pde Wembley starting 6.30pm sharp. This is an information night only and there is no obligation whatsoever to join the squad or otherwise. Please note also that this squad is open to anyone and not just exclusive to North Coast club members.
