WEEKLY UPDATE

As always, check the calendar for the weekly training sessions available but the highlights of the weeks activities include:

TRYSTARS:

* SATURDAY MORNING CT RIDE WITH KEVIN – 

The junior club ride is departing from McDonalds Joondalup this Saturday. Please be there at 6.15am for a 6.30am start. Don’t forget to wear your ID wristband.

* TRYSTARS RUN & CYCLE TRAINING starts back next Friday, Feb 13th, 2015

We are looking forward to recommencing the next block of training with the Trystars and gearing all about their summer holidays and hopefully some triathlons they have had a go at!  There are lots of  races and other kids events on over the season for our Trystars to participate in, including the Rockingham tadpoles race on the 15th Feb. Check out the tadpoles website for more information on the events and to sign up. Lots of kids events are also included on our calendar. Trystar events are labelled in orange.

 

JUNIORS AND SENIORS:

SWIM:

* ARENA SWIMMING, Tuesday 3rd Feb, 7pm

 Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). 

* CRAIGIE SWIMMING, Wednesday 4th Feb, 6.30pm

Indoor pool with Kristy –  This session is technique based and perfect for CT’s and those of us looking to develop their confidence and stroke.  Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). 

Outdoor pool with Janine– it’s Time trial night! Please don’t freak out.. it’s not scary I promise. The idea of this is to get a baseline to work from so we can gauge your own improvements and set times for you to hit during the normal sessions. It’s not a race or competition. It’s about learning to pace and to set some goals and targets for yourself! 

* CRAIGIE SWIMMING, Friday 6th Feb, 10.30am

Indoor pool with Kristy – This sessions is an endurance session with some limited stroke correction.  Please bring your Fins, Pull Buoy, Paddles (we have some club PB and Paddles available). 

 

**SWIM CARDS** will be on hand at all sessions. The cards are $90 for 10 sessions (a saving of $10). Show the coach your payment receipt  (paper or digital copy)  and they can authorise your card! Payment is required either by direct deposit or register now to avoid too much cash handling on pool deck

BIKE:

* THURSDAY RIDE: 5th Feb, 6am

Hillarys & Sacred Heart – A regular favourite, this ride is one of the best rides for all levels with a section of loops around Sacred Heart so slower riders can opt to do less loops. Finishes approx 7am.

* SATURDAY RIDE :  7th Feb, 6am

Guildford Loop – Start SSLSC and enjoy 73kms heading out to Guildford and back. A new return section along Benara Rd keeps us of the Reid Hwy.

* SATURDAY SHORTER RIDE : 7th Feb, 6am

Whiteman Park – Start SSLSC for a smooth 50km ride. The new route goes into Whiteman on the way out and is a full out and back course which keeps you off Reid Hwy and in the quite of Whiteman Park with the Roos.

 

RUN:

* SUMMER INTERVAL TRAINING : Flinders Reserve, Thursday 5th Feb, 6-7pm

These fun  interval sessions are suitable for all levels and running experience. All welcome to come along and give it a go!

AQUATHLON:

* AQUATHLON 9 – 6th Feb, 5.45pm

The next Aquathlon is race 9 on this coming Friday at the Sorrento Surf Life saving club. Registration is at 5.45pm, and race briefing at 6pm. Come along to participate or spectate. Distances are usually a swim of 400m to 600m, and a run from 3.2 to 3.4km. The bar will be open and the club will be selling BBQ hamburgers $5.00 and sausage sizzle $2.50. These are a great social night for everyone to attend!

The amazing Al & Suzie from Als Cycle Surgery have very generously offered to sponsor the Aquathlon series again this year with another sensational bike on offer!  This is the major prize for the Aquathlon series and to qualify,  members must compete in at least 6 of the events over the 12 event series (see dates here)  Al will be bringing the bike down on Friday night so head on down to have a look at the beautiful bike you could win 🙂 

We are also very grateful that 3 of our members,  David & Michelle Martin (ExplorOz),  Lisa Vass (Sorrento Sports Massage) and Eve O’Hare (Eve’s PT Plus),  have generously donated  spot prizes at events. We hope to see you there!!:)

NEWS & OTHER EVENTS

* PARK RUN CARINE GLADES – every Saturday, 8am

Quite a few Northcoasters have been spotted enjoying this free timed 5km (fun) run at Carine Glades at 8am every Saturday. North Coast has now been set up as club option so you can either add it to your current registration or select it when registering for the first time.  Check it out here. Registration and participation is free, all you need is your bar code and to show up. They are always looking for volunteers too if you want to check it out first!

*BUSSO JETTY SWIM & FUN RUN – 7 & 8th Feb

I know lots of members are heading down to enjoy the events on offer at Busselton this weekend, myself included. We will have a tent down there so look out for the flag if you want somewhere to catch up with other members, hang out in the shade  or leave your gear while you race. (Hoping to put it up near the Equinox cafe, similar to where it was for IronmanWA). The jetty swim has sold out but registrations for the run (5,10 or half marathon) that is on Saturday 7th close on Wed 4th. More info can be found here.  I look forward to seeing lots of North Coasters over the weekend!

* CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS- ROCKINGHAM TRI, 15th Feb 

Tri events has set up a new “First timers tent” initiative and they are looking for around 5 volunteers from each of the invited clubs to assist with the first timers tent. The 5 volunteers will be required from 6am to 7.45am to assist those first timers make their way around the venue and to give them some basic advice about completing their first tri! Upon arrival, head to the orange ‘First Timers Tent’ (that will be labelled at this event). Dave Budge will meet the volunteers there at 6am and give a briefing of the venue and provide hats and follies shirts to wear. If you are volunteering for a second plus time, if you could wear the volunteer shirt provided the last time.

They are willing to accept volunteers who are participating in the Sprint Distance Race and will allow them to check bikes in transition early, however would still like them to be available  until 745am. Each club will be given a donation per volunteer they provide for the roles, $25pp for the 2hrs.. If you are keen and available, please contact me ASAP at triathlon@northcoasttriclub.org.au 

 * TRI CLUBS SWAP MEET – Saturday 21st Feb, 10am-12 noon

Have you got a bunch of tri stuff lying around that you don’t use anymore ? Or do you love a bargain? On Sat 21st Feb,  Exceeed tri club are hosting a tri swap meet at the TWA office carpark and we have been invited to attend!
