*** ARENA SWIMMING, Tuesday 20th January, 7pm***

I got a little excited and jumped the gun regarding Travis Nederpelt coaching in last weeks update. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to confirm Travis’ start date so at this stage I  (Janine) will be coaching the session tomorrow night . We are very keen to keep the Arena sessions going so if you have been thinking of coming along, I promise to make it fun and challenging!  We will update everyone as soon as we know more.

* AQUATHLON 8, Friday 23rd January, 5.45pm

The next  Aquathlon is race 8 on this coming friday at the Sorrento Surf Life saving club. Registration is at 5.45pm, and race briefing at 6pm. Distances are usually a swim of 400m to 600m, and a run from 3.2 to 3.4km. The bar will be open, and the BBQ will be fired up!  Hamburgers $5.00 and sausage sizzle $2.50. These are a great social night for everyone to attend, whether participating or spectating!

The amazing Al & Suzie from Als Cycle Surgery have very generously offered to sponsor the Aquathlon series again this year with another sensational bike on offer!   This is the major prize for the Aquathlon series and to qualify,  members must compete in at least 6 of the events over the 12 event series (see dates here)  We are also very grateful that 3 of our members,  David & Michelle Martin (ExplorOz),  Lisa Vass (Sorrento Sports Massage) and Eve O’Hare (Eve’s PT Plus),  have generously donated  spot prizes at events. We hope to see you there!!:)

* SATURDAY RIDE:  Power Station TT – Saturday 24th January, 6am

The Power Station Time Trial ride is a single distance ride of 80km from Sorrento SLSC to the Gnangara Power Station and back. The time trial section is an out and back course of 15kms each way (30km all up) giving you an excellent opportunity to stretch the legs on a road with almost no vehicles. See more information at Power Station TT

* SHORTER RIDE: Power Station TT from Joondalup – Saturday 24th January, 6:30am

This shorter ride is targeted at around 50km and offers a wee sleep in this week. The shorter ride will be also be Power Station TT but instead of starting at Sorrento SLSC this ride will start at Joondalup McDonald’s at 6:30AM and will ride out to the main regroup point (Spence & Ziatas) and join up with the Sorrento starters. Both groups will then do the time trial section together and head back to their respective start points.

Quite a few Northcoasters have been spotted enjoying this free timed 5km (fun) run at Carine Glades at 8am every Saturday. We are looking into setting up North Coast as a club option upon signing up, but in the meantime, check it out here. Registration and participation is free, all you need is your bar code and to show up. They are always looking for volunteers too if you want to check it out first!
