Today and over the weekend some of our awesome North Coast juniors are in Runaway Bay, Queensland to compete in the 2014 SCODY Australian Junior Triathlon Series.
This event is the first one in the series and is for the top tier youth (13-15) and junior (16-19) series for athletes who hold an ITU Youth or Junior licence, meaning they have reached a high skill and performance level allowing them to race in draft legal races. This series is comprised of 4 key events held at various locations whereby competitors race against their peers, battling for series points and the Junior Series Title. To qualify for the event, the following NCTC juniors made the required times in two TEP trials:
Today there are individual event time trials (swim meet, bike criterium and athletic Track run) and over both days of the weekend there are several sprint distance races, culminating in a grand final event on sunday afternoon. Following the event, there is a national development camp that some of these competing juniors will be staying on to participate in, which is a fantastic opportunity for them.
We wish them all the very best and cannot wait to hear news of their personal success!
