Duathlon this Saturday

This Saturday 1st June – there will be no Club organised Saturday ride. As a diversion and because of the colder weather we will replace this Saturday’s rides with a “run/ride/run formatted activity. Subsequent “Duathlons” will be held on the first Saturday of every month up to and including the month of September.

The activity will be held in and around the precinct of the Sorrento Surf Club. From 6.30 – arrival for a 7.00am start. The SoCafe (Sorrento Surf Club alfresco area) will be open for refreshments after the event.

We will commence with a 2k group run (to the Marmion Angling Club and back), followed by a group ride. (Any bike will do – bring out the MTB or even dust off the old steel racer. It must have 2 wheels and brakes) There will be 2 options for the ride. 1: (short course 12k) to the roundabout at Mullaloo and back. Ride 2: (long course 24k) to the end of the coastal road in Iluka. Both rides will return to the Sorrento Surf Club where the bikes will be racked and you will head off on a final run. Short course (2.4k) runners will do 3 laps of the Sorrento grassed area and the long course (5k) will run out to the marina following the path by the seawall to its extreme end and then back to do 3 laps of the grassed area before finishing at the transition area.

The idea is to introduce some variety into our routine and enjoy the atmosphere of a group activity. Just like the Saturday ride – it is not a race. Hopefully participants will slot into groups of like ability and encourage each other along the way.

We have held these sessions over the last few years and they have proved to be very popular. Our location is very convenient and is much warmer than other venues used in the past.
