Active After School Communities Triathlon Program

There is a chance for North Coast Tri Club to be involved with the Active After School Communities Triathlon Program at Arena for 2 terms in 2013 as a coach.  You do not need to have any coaching qualifications.

What will I be doing?  As a triathlon community coach you will be delivering triathlon activity sessions to primary school children in the after-school timeslot during school term.

What sort of activities could I deliver?  We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated community coaches who can conduct game-based activity sessions in not only traditional sports such as netball, hockey and rugby, but also non-traditional activities such as triathlon.  The possibilities for getting kids active are endless.  (if you have experience in other sports that would lead you into further possible employment in this area)

Do I need any qualifications or experience?  You will need to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and/or experience within triathlon and a desire to have fun helping kids get active.  The Community Coach Training Program will show you the rest.  (CTs and Juniors of 16 and over would be very suitable for these positions.  Our coaches would be happy to give you ideas for activities to get you started.  This is a great way to earn some money while you go through university or TAFE etc.)

Do I get paid?  Yes, as long as you go as a club representative which would then cover your insurance.

What do I need to do to qualify for these positions?  Attend 2 days free Australian Sports Commission Coaching Course.  This gives you access to lots of resources useful in creating exciting activities for the children that could then be used in teaching, coaching etc in the future.

Who do I contact if I am interested or want more information?  Ann Blatchford at
